Our Journey

Born in Redondo Beach, California, and raised in the sunny oasis of Palm Springs, our free-spirited event director Nazeerah (a.k.a Nazzy), embarked on a transformative journey, living in various destinations such as Asia and Mexico. These travels helped her define her purpose and shape her culinary passion. Nazeerah has spent eight years living in the PNW mainly in Spokane, Washington. During this time, she has developed a deep passion for people and service within the community with mindfulness and love. Nazeerah brings over 10 years of customer service to the table. Having worked in various corporate roles, she has always maintained two jobs, with her main focus being in sales during the day and dedicating her nights to working in restaurants. Her journey began as a busser, to host, to back of house, once she was old enough she started serving then later bartending. Beyond the confines of restaurants, in Mexico, she immersed herself in volunteer cooking at an orphanage. Additionally, during the devastating Typhoon Ruby in the Philippines, she actively participated in a community effort, lending a helping hand. Nazeerah’s love for people is evident, and her versatile experience enables her to excel in different roles within the industry. Nazzy’s motto: “In order to truly love others, you need to cultivate self-love. Self-love is so important.”

Our executive chef, Nicholas (a.k.a Nick), brings a wealth of culinary expertise to our team. Nick’s culinary adventure began humbly in an organic bakery in Montana, and cooking festivals in the Bayous of Louisiana to French Bistros. Nick’s culinary journey has also brought him to the fairgrounds of Seattle where he participated in an Malayasian fair.  After a decade of travel and working in kitchens across the United States to develop his craft, he has returned to Spokane with a renewed enthusiasm. Nicholas is thrilled to share his passion for food, people, and sustainability with the local community. Nicholas has come to realize the importance of connecting with guests on a deeper level. He laments missed opportunities in the past and eagerly awaits looking forward to the chance to apply his creativity and care in fulfilling his guest’s culinary visions. Nicholas strives to establish a connection with his guests on a chef’s level, really understanding their preferences, restrictions, and crafting a memorable experience that exceeds their expectations. Nick’s favorite motto: “HOPE not EXPECT, because when you expect you have already failed.”

Together, in larger establishments they witnessed the exclusion and lack of attentiveness given to individuals with dietary considerations. Compassion Catering Strives to share their vision of inclusivity and connection through food, care and mindfulness.
